IT Application Developer

Canfield Consulting Group (CCG) has a requirement for IT application
developers to support several projects with the New York City Department of
Social Services (DSS)/Information Technology Services (ITS). ITS’ principal
goal is to provide and continue to enhance the technology infrastructure and
computer applications that are in place to support the present and future
business requirements of all organizations within DSS. This infrastructure has
enabled DSS to maximize and improve its ability to deliver timely, quality
services to DSS clients and to the public within New York City, as well as
obtain administrative benefits.

Tasks and duties will include:

  • Develop System Design
  • Develop and prepares documents for the general
    design of solutions that meet system and security requirements, including the
    selection of alternative approaches.
  • Develop specifications for databases,
    communication systems, hardware, network, security, storage and software
    configurations.
  • Develop structured diagrams for the
    specifications of databases, communication systems, computer or storage area
    networks, security or network programs.
  • Develop, compiles, maintains and documents
    configurations of the following: databases, servers, computers, security and
    network monitor systems, packaged programs, macros, utilities, and
    communication systems.
  • Develop system documentation
  • Develop operational and installation
    procedures for communication systems, hardware, network, security, storage and
    software
  • Develop guidelines and upgrade techniques of
    new operational procedures for the support of databases, hardware systems,
    operating systems software, network systems software, security and client
    server systems.
  • Develop detailed systems operations designs
  • Perform co-ordination and Management
  • Provide general programming assistance to
    other MIS programmers/projects as may be needed.
  • Provide assistance to MIS technical support
    staff when they are unable to resolve a program, database, or IT issue by themselves
  • Perform considerable amounts of Project
    Management, SCRUM delivery and Agile Development Methodologies with knowledge
    in Functional Business Analysis and Planning sprint delivery
  • Perform System Coding
  • Create the program code in .NET environment
  • Provide general programming assistance to
    other MIS programmers/projects as may be needed.
  • Test and maintain the program code to make
    sure it meets all the functional requirements

Required Skills

  • Minimum 7 Years’ Experience with data
    structures, data manipulation, databases, design, programming, testing and
    implementation
  • Minimum 7 Years’ Experience with technical and
    user documentation, software conversion
  • Minimum 7 Years Exposure to environments
    include but are not limited to Mainframe, Midrange, personal computers, laptops
  • Minimum 7 Years Lead in the design of program
    specifications and the implementation of software solutions
  • Minimum 7 Years’ Experience with DOT
    NET/Oracle Development
  • Minimum 7 Years’ Experience on both the Front
    and Backend processing of Web Applications

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in an information
    technology-related field
  • Project Management Professional (PMP)
    certification
  • Certifications in Oracle
  • Five Years’ Experience in Business Analysis
    and Project Management Techniques, SCRUM and Agile Development Methodologies
    and Sprint Delivery
